      Africa Portal

The Africa Portal is an online knowledge resource for policy-related issues on Africa. An undertaking by the CIGI and the SAIIA, the Africa Portal offers open access to a suite of features including an online library collection; a resource for opinion and analysis; an experts directory; an international events calendar; and a mobile technology component — all aimed to equip users with research and information on Africa’s current policy issues.

A key feature to the Africa Portal is the online library collection holding over 5,000 books, journals, and digital documents related to African policy issues. The entire online repository is open access and available for free full-text download. A portion of the digital documents housed in the library have been digitized for the first time as an undertaking of the Africa Portal project. Facilitating new digitization projects is a core feature of the Africa Portal, which aims to improve access and visibility for African research.

The Africa Portal is part of the Africa Initiative project.

A History Of Ear Gauging In Different

Through studying the history of ear gauging in different cultures and civilizations worldwide, it has been concluded that the practice is at least as old as recorded history, and likely much older. Mummies, statues, old drawings and prehistoric paintings have suggested that ear gauging has been used as a sign of maturity in both men and women, and also of status, particularly with men. It has also been used cosmetically, largely by women.

Ear gauging is a way of stretching the piercing of an earlobe to larger diameters. These diameters can be a lot more than the original piercing, and go up to over an inch and more. It is usually carried out as a fashion statement, and to show that the recipient is 'cool'. It cannot be described as 'modern', because King Tut had his ears stretched, as did Otzi the Iceman - way back in 3300 BC!

Africa Getting Back To The Basics

The astounding beauty of Africa's many regions has attracted Western explorers, sparked wars and piqued historians' interests for centuries upon centuries. From the tranquil Mediterranean coast of North Africa to the thriving southern tip of Cape Town, the great continent spans over 10,000 indigenous tribes, more than 500 languages and over 60 independent nations and political territories.

Africa is referred to as the cradle of human life as we know it, being the oldest inhabited territory in the world. Travel through Africa will reveal the modern dilemma of a region pushing forward with globalization and technology at the same time that many cultures and tribes are striving to protect their traditional way of life. In addition to human life, Africa supports the world's most spectacular collection of rare species and biodiversity. Encountering Africa's wilderness firsthand is not only a radically unique experience, but also a once-in-a-lifetime privilege that future generations may not have the opportunity to share.

Africa Information For Safari Travellers

Now that we've covered those aspect of what you need to know about it. Let's turn to some of the other factors that need to be considered, especially for travellers.

Africa is only the one among many continents which is very well known in terms of variety of jungle and wildlife. I bet that you can not imagine how excited you will be and how exactly you will know about it until you once have a chance to visit Africa. Africa Intelligence Serving State The Society

Well-managed security is increasingly seen as a fundamental objective of human development as well as a necessary precursor to economic growth. In a fast transforming continent like Africa, the security agencies, such as the military, aim to offer comprehensive defense against the existing dangers, but they are subject to political influence. Intelligence agencies cannot offer comprehensive protection but can identify the new threats. Furthermore, they can remove the bias that is introduced into information either by the sender or by the receiver.

Intelligence services can monitor and respond more effectively than security services to emerging or incoherent threats, and thus enable parties to make credible promises and commitments to peace. However, they require careful management, which means that a system of control, supervision, and oversight is necessary to ensure that the approaches employed for intelligence collection meet the defined standards that are acceptable to the society they serve. As stated by Edward Waltz,

Africa Is In Reach Even

1. Planning is everything

The first thing you will need to do is work out your Africa travel budget. Decide how much you can afford to spend on your safari, and remember to include spending money, travel costs, safaris costs and any other costs you may need to consider. Be realistic, and rather over calculate than under calculate. Once you have worked out more or less how much you can spend, you can start looking around for a safari that works within your budget.

African Safaris Faqs Making An Ideal

How much time do I have available for my African safari?

You should allow a minimum of about two weeks. Also, take into consideration (especially if you are traveling from the West Coast) that you need to allow two travel days to get to Africa and at least one day for the return. For the game viewing part of your safari (excluding travel time to the safari regions), a minimum of 5-7 nights in preferably two different wildlife regions is ideal.

For example, if you choose Botswana, it's better to include at least one camp in the Okavango Delta (preferably two to allow you to experience the Moremi Game Reserve) and as time permits, a camp/lodge in Chobe National Park, a great contrast and an excellent stepping stone for Victoria Falls. For an East African safari, like Tanzania, either a driving or fly-in safari is suggested. And, for this, you should allow a minimum of 8 nights. If you would like to combine the Maasai Mara in Kenya, another 4 nights is the minimum we recommend.

Bird Photography In Africa

But there are also those who are just as interested in the diverse bird life of the great African Continent and the opportunities for photographing African bird life are as diverse as the species that live on this inspiring continent.

Imagine yourself, after an early morning breakfast and under the rising African sun, making your way by road to Amboseli National Park. Here the surrounding game reserve covers 1260 sq miles and although it is mostly arid woodland it does have a series of swamps and lakes that provides a year round water supply for wildlife and attracts birds and animals alike to drink and frolic in the shallows.
